Low Carbon Design

A sustainable building is one which is designed, constructed and operated to be as environmentally benign as possible, whilst providing a high quality internal environment for building users, and meeting the cost criteria of its developers and owners or tenants. A low carbon building will be beneficial to the environmental in terms of reduced carbon emissions, in addition to reduced running costs during occupation.

The design of building services is an vital part of a low carbon design solution and involving ARB at early concept stage will ensure that opportunities to maximise passive design features, design out energy demand, and optimise daylighting and natural ventilation are identified and incorporated, reducing carbon and running costs.
